I hope I didn't give the wrong impression to everyone in my Scientae - I linked to another GeoBlogospheric woman, Tuff Cookie, who studies volcanoes. (I look for gold and stuff like that!)
My recent post about Mauna Kea, however, does mention field trips I've had *on* volcanoes. And I've walked on some 7-day old lava from Kilauea!
Silver Fox - I know it's not your thing, per se, but I got the impression that you find volcanoes to be extremely cool (as do I), and I felt inspired to post the pic. :)
Plus you're the only geologist that I interact with on here, so consider it a shout-out. :)
And my commenting and posting has been a bit irregular this month - and I *do* think volcanoes are way, way neat. My first geo-mapping was in volcanic rocks (more than 20 million years old!).
I'm a twenty-something new mom living in New England. My son D was born in June of 2010. My blog has a LOT of different topics on it - grad school admissions, psychology, books, travel, fashion, cooking, etc., but mommyhood seems to dominate my interests these days.
I haven't decided yet if I want to continue the pseudonymity or just "come out" on this blog since burning bridges to grad school is no longer an issue. We'll see how it goes - I do still work, ya know!

Hey . . .I was going to say 'way cool', with no pun intended.
Sounds like it must have been a fun trip indeed.
